Finished Crochet Wedding Blanket!

I finally finished the crochet wedding blanket! I am actually really pleased with how it turned out, I think it just looks so bright and sunny!

I was heading to a friends birthday tea and knew the bride and groom would be there after their honeymoon so I decided to bring it along with me, as well as a sunflower and homemade red velvet cake for the birthday girl.

All gifts were greatly appreciated and a lovely day was had by all. What better way to spend a Sunday than with great friends and lovely food!

Emergency Crochet!

Last weekend I went to visit a friend in the Scottish Borders. However, before I’d even left work I realised I hadn’t packed any winter woolies…disaster in this snowy weather! Luckily I had packed wool and a crochet hook so I quickly got to work on some mitts and a hat. They may not be the highest quality items that I’ve even made but they did the job and kept me warm and cosy over the weekend. Don’t you just love it when crafting comes to the rescue!

Pinterest Picks #10

This week my Pinterest picks are all around the theme of winter warmers. It’s been chilly here in the UK and with a winter chill comes the desire to get cosy and warm inside. Here are some of my favourite ways to do this.

Firstly, food…what better way to warm up than with a bowl of something comforting (yes, comfort food should almost always come in bowl form).

red lentil coconut soup  - a house in the hills

Navy Bean Soup

Lentil and Sausage Soup for a Cold Winter's Night by AntoniaJames, food52: The beauty of this soup is that it manages to be soul-warming but not overly heavy. The broth is light, and aromatic with wine and marjoram, and you feel like you've won the lottery each time you come across a piece of garlicky sausage. #Soup #Lentil #Sausage

Next, what better way to enjoy this lovely food? Of course, wrapped up in something warm and cosy!

Who wouldn’t love to be sitting here right now?

New Designs

I’ve loved making crochet collars recently and I’m proud to have them onsale in my Etsy shop. However, I have been feeling the need to change up the design a wee bit. Last night I spent a bit of time playing about with some wool and my hook and this is what I came up with. What do you think?

New crochet obsessions

I’m so addicted to crochet at the minute. My current favourites are these lovely peter pan collars. I’ve long been a sucker for a peter pan collar but now to have interchangeable woolly wee lovelies like these. I’m over the moon! I love the vintage style they bring to the most simple garment.
