After a very sad family time I was perked up by making my first Etsy sale! I didn’t expect this moment to be quite as exciting as it was but I was over the moon to think that somebody would pay money for something I made! I was beginning to get a bit downheartened that nothing was selling but this has re-energised me and I can’t wait for the next sale. I have a feeling this crafting thing is addictive! It should come with a warning!
So I’ve made it to week 2! Here are some of my favourite pinteresting things from last week.
First up this week we have this lovely poster featuring lomography cameras. Cameras are beautiful objects and I love to see them displayed like this.
I’ve tried my hand at embroidery once or twice and it’s always ended up a bit of a mess so I am utterly astounded when I see beautiful pieces like this, when I think of how much effort has gone into it I am in awe.
This is a gorgeous use of embroidery hoops and felt. It’s given me so many great ideas too!
Hmmm…there seems to have been some colour coordination this week, they all look so lovely together!
This week I decided to use some materials I am familiar with to do a project I haven’t done before. So, using calico and felt I designed and made a notebook. I “liberated” some paper from work. Folded and stitched a spine into it. I then used the cover of an old magazine to create the outside of the notebook. I then covered this with unbleached calico and glued the edges down. Then came the design. I had a template of a bird that I’d used previously. I cut this out in purple felt and added the orange eye and wing details. I was going to leave it at this but the bird looked a bit lonely so I decided to add a wee branch for the bird to sit on.
This new skill will be great for feeding my stationary habit!
I’ve been continuing with my felt brooches. I particularly liked this one. The colour way is really vibrant and the pinked edges remind me of a postage stamp. I can’t decide whether to keep it or put it on etsy. Maybe I’ll make some more.
It’s getting to that time of year again. Valentines Day is a mere 27 days away. Time to start thinking about what to get your dear beloved. I’m not one for going over the top at Valentines Day- I think you should show your love every day of the year. However, everybody loves to receive a card on Valentines day. Whether it’s from you lover, husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, best friend, or parent you always get a thrill. So I decided to make some Valentines goodies. I started with a loveheart brooch which I would love to wear all year round.
I haven’t got my shop on here up and running yet but you can buy it on Etsy. I also used the same design to make a Valentines Card, also available on Etsy. I’m looking forward to trying out some different designs this week.
Finally another brooch. This time all cut with pinking shears and featuring red felt and navy red and white baseball design cotton. I love these little brooches. I’ll be wearing them all year round. There can never be too much love!
